Disaster Training of Trainers (Day III)

Medan, November 2, 2023 – The Disaster Training of Trainers program’s third day delves into essential aspects of disaster readiness and response. Activities revolve around prioritizing key issues, forming actions from identified outcomes, budgeting, learning-monitoring-evaluation, PMEL tools, and emergency response planning.

Participants are actively engaged in understanding disaster management fundamentals. The day commenced with a focus on identifying and prioritizing critical issues in disaster management. This involved assessing and ranking urgent problems in disaster-prone regions to allocate resources effectively. The subsequent session emphasized defining clear outcomes in disaster management and translating them into actionable activities. The importance of financial planning in disaster management was highlighted, ensuring the availability of resources when required.

The training program stressed continual improvement through learning-monitoring-evaluation and introduced modern tools for Program Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (PMEL) to enhance the quality of disaster management. The day concluded with a detailed session on emergency preparedness and response planning, guiding participants in creating comprehensive strategies for efficient disaster response. Throughout the activities, hands-on exercises, case studies, and discussions reinforced learning, ensuring the program’s highly interactive and practical approach.
